JUST WRITE (feature)

In 1997, when director Andrew Gallerani asked me to rewrite a script he was slated to direct, I immediately signed on. I’d worked with Andy previously and enjoyed the experience. When I read the script, written by Stan Williamson, I could see improvements that would make a big difference in attracting a good cast.

LOGLINE:
A romantic comedy about a Hollywood tour bus driver who poses as a screenwriter to romance an aspiring young actress.

After a quick two-week rewrite, Andy took the script to Mary Jo Slater’s (Christian’s mom) casting company and a casting director there, Bruce H. Newberg, came on board. He cast Jeremy Piven in the lead. Jeremy went on to star in HBO’s “Entourage” and PBS’ “Mr. Selfridge.”

The film also starred Sherilyn Fenn (“Twin Peaks”), JoBeth Williams (The Big Chill, Poltergeist, Wyatt Earp), Wallace Shawn (The Incredibles, Monsters, Inc., Toy Story, The Princess Bride, My Dinner with Andre) and the late, great Alex Rocco (The Godfather, That Thing You Do, The Wedding Planner).
